Residents across Harrow are set to benefit from a £1.4 million leisure centre investment after Everyone Active, which has managed the facilities since 2013, secured a new 10-year contract in the borough.
The new partnership with London Borough of Harrow begins on 1 March 2026 and will see Everyone Active continue operating Hatch End Swimming Pool, Harrow Leisure Centre and Bannister Outdoor Sports Centre.
As part of the contract, significant improvements are planned at Harrow Leisure Centre, with full gym and studio refurbishments designed to modernise the facility and increase capacity.
The investment at the leisure centre will include enhanced fitness equipment, upgrades to existing studios and improvements to the ladies-only gym. Plans also include the creation of a new, larger group exercise studio and an upgraded group cycling studio, increasing capacity for both sessions.
All refurbishment works are expected to be completed by summer 2026, with improvements phased to minimise disruption for customers.
John Sewell, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said: “We are delighted to have secured this new 10-year contract, which provides long-term continuity for customers and allows us to build on the strong relationships already in place across Harrow’s leisure facilities.
“Residents will continue to see the same familiar faces delivering services they know and trust, alongside some exciting improvements that will enhance the existing offer.
“This £1.4 million investment will help keep facilities modern and fit for the future, while increasing capacity and enabling more people to take part in physical activity.”
Cllr Janet Mote, Cabinet Member for Community and Culture said: “We know how important leisure and fitness are for our residents and we’re delighted to continue working with Everyone Active.
“Thousands of people enjoy using Harrow Leisure Centre, Hatch End Swimming Pool and Bannister Outdoor Sports Centre and will welcome this news of further investment. This will ensure our facilities continue to put residents first and meet the health and wellbeing needs of our residents and users.
The upcoming improvements will make getting active easier and more accessible for everyone, so more people can enjoy fitness, wellbeing across our centres.”
In addition to facility investment, Everyone Active will continue to support aspiring athletes through its Sporting Champions scheme. The talent development programme provides free access to leisure facilities and mentoring support to help up-and-coming athletes reach their full potential.
Everyone Active will continue its inclusive membership programme in the borough. This includes complimentary memberships for cared-for children and care-experienced young people (via Council Family Support Team referral), free access for people living with Parkinson's and their carers, plus discounted rates for NHS staff, emergency service workers, full-time carers, and Universal Credit recipients.
Work on the facility upgrades will begin shortly after the new contract commences, with minimal disruption to services planned.
