A £2.8million project to refurbish leisure centres in Cannock Chase has begun today (Monday, April 13), as a new era for health and fitness in the district kicks off.
Award-winning operator Everyone Active took over the running of Rugeley Leisure Centre, Chase Leisure Centre and Golf Course and Fives Pavilion and Sports Ground on Wednesday, April 1.
All sites will receive upgrades during the next six months following significant investment by Everyone Active working with Cannock Chase District Council.
Works began at Rugeley Leisure Centre today (Monday, April 13), with a three-week project to install a new group cycling studio.
This will replace the store room next to the sports hall and will include 18 Technogym bikes as well as a modern look and feel.
Significant further refurbishments to both Rugeley Leisure Centre and Chase Leisure Centre and Golf Course will be announced over the coming months, including impressive gym upgrades and new facilities.
Everyone Active is working in partnership with Cannock Chase District Council to deliver leisure services in the district for the next 10 years. The Leicestershire-headquartered company manages 250 sites across the country in partnership with, or as an agent of, more than 70 local authorities.
Everyone Active’s area contract manager, Dan Mclean, said: “We’ve had a fantastic start to life in Cannock Chase and it’s been great to meet our new customers and colleagues and to begin to embed ourselves in the local community.
“The refurbishment works across the contract are hugely exciting and will ensure we deliver the state-of-the-art facilities our customers deserve. No matter what your age, interests or ability, there is something for you at your local leisure centre.
“We look forward to the completion of the group cycling studio at Rugeley Leisure Centre and announcing further developments over the coming months.”
