World class diving is returning to Sheffield in 2026 as Ponds Forge International Sports Centre hosts the first-ever Aquatics GB Diving International competition from 30 January to 1 February.
The brand-new three-day event offers the opportunity to see Britain’s leading divers go head-to-head with talented athletes from around the world, marking the first World Aquatics recognised competition at the facility since 2011.
The inaugural event on the sporting calendar marks a high-quality competition ahead of the 2026 season and the Diving World Cup series which kicks off in Montreal on 26 February next year.
Fans can expect a packed programme of 3m springboard and 10m platform individual preliminaries and finals, plus a fast-paced synchronised diving finals – all taking place at the centre, which is run by award-winning leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Sheffield City Council.
Phil Bowers, Everyone Active contract manager, said: “Bringing international diving back to Sheffield is a huge moment for the city. We’re proud to be hosting this fantastic inaugural event which offers our divers the opportunity to test themselves against international talent and showcase their dedication to the sport for 2026.
“We can’t wait to welcome divers and fans to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre for an exciting weekend of elite diving that is bound to be a highlight of the year and is not to be missed.”
Councillor Mohammed Mahroof, Chair of the Economic Development, Skills and Culture Committee at Sheffield City Council, said:“Having international diving return to Sheffield is a real vote of confidence in our city and our venues. It strengthens Sheffield’s reputation as a leading UK host for major sport, brings vital footfall for local businesses, and creates opportunities for residents to get involved – from club activity to schools engagement. We’re excited to work with partners to deliver a brilliant event experience for competitors and spectators, and to build a legacy that encourages more people to be active, more often.”
Aquatics GB programme lead for diving Matt Ashman commented:
“This exciting new event brings international diving back to home soil, offering our divers an incredible opportunity to compete and perform under the unique pressure of going head-to-head with their international peers at the start of 2026.
“Performances in Sheffield will play a key role in our selections for the World Aquatics World Cup series, as we use these opportunities to develop a team who can build on the diving successes of 2024 and 2025 and ultimately work towards success at LA 2028.”
