More than 1,200 visitors attended Aldershot Lido’s community fun day on Saturday (23 May), as the much-loved outdoor pool officially re-opened for the summer season.
Hosted by Everyone Active, operating as an agent for Rushmoor Borough Council, the event welcomed families from across the local area for a day of entertainment, water-based activities and community fun.
A key highlight of the day was an appearance from TikTok-famous professional freestyle footballer, Jamie Knight, who showcased his skills and hosted taster sessions for children.
Visitors also enjoyed an Aqua for All session, taster sessions with Blackwater Valley Canoe Club, a Teddy Bears’ Picnic for younger children, live DJ music, balloon modelling and meet-and-greets with
Everyone Active’s monster mascots.
Several local small businesses and community organisations attended as stallholders, showcasing a range of products, services and community initiatives.
Ashley Miles, General Manager at Aldershot Lido, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people from the local community enjoying the re-opening event and making the most of all the activities on offer throughout the day.
“The atmosphere was brilliant and it was great to welcome both returning customers and new visitors experiencing the lido for the very first time. We’re looking forward to a fantastic summer season ahead.”
Councillor Sophie Porter, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Healthy Communities and Active Lives at Rushmoor Borough Council added: “What a fantastic start to the summer season at Aldershot Lido - thank you to everyone who joined us! It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the pool again, as well as all the free activities and music. The warm weather certainly looks like it will stay with us through the half-term week, so come on down and enjoy our lovely lido.”
