The new gym at Rugeley Leisure Centre opened on Saturday, August 15 as the £2.8million investment in Cannock Chase leisure sites continues to progress.

The centre, run by award-winning operator Everyone Active in partnership with Cannock Chase District Council, has been extended to 115 stations and has been filled with state-of-the-art Life Fitness equipment.

A large cardio and strength machine area now leads into a separate free weights room, with an offset focused recovery area.

The centre is due to open new male and female dry-side changing rooms by the end of August, completing a project that has included the installation of a brand-new group cycling studio, brand-new grab and go café facilities and a refurbished reception area.

Chase Leisure Centre recently reopened its revamped gym which features top-of-the-range Life Fitness equipment and a new look and feel. The fitness suite includes cardio and strength areas as well as a dedicated recovery and stretching space.

A brand-new Reformer studio is already proving popular with the local community, as is the impressive Air-X facility – a huge, inflatable obstacle course – which is based in the sports hall.

A refurbished reception and new grab and go café will open later in August, while work on the Active Monsters soft play, which will be positioned next to Air-X, is expected to be completed around the end of September.

Both Rugeley Leisure Centre and Chase Leisure Centre are set to hold open days on Saturday, September 5, celebrating the upgraded facilities and offering a raft of £1 activities for the local community to enjoy. Activities can be booked in advance via the Everyone Active app and website from Friday, August 21.

Dan Mclean, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said: “It’s great to see these fantastic upgrades taking shape and will ensure we deliver the state-of-the-art facilities our customers deserve.

“The refurbished fitness facilities at both Rugeley Leisure Centre and Chase Leisure Centre provide the perfect environment for the local community to get active and improve their physical and mental health.

“No matter what your age, interests or ability, there is something for you at your local leisure centre.”

Councillor Mark Deakin, Portfolio Leader for Leisure, Culture and Heritage at Cannock Chase Council, said: “It's fantastic to see the latest improvements at Rugeley Leisure Centre now open and being enjoyed by residents. This significant investment demonstrates our commitment to providing modern, high-quality leisure facilities that support the health and wellbeing of our communities.

“Alongside the upgrades at Chase Leisure Centre, these improvements are transforming our leisure offer across the district, creating welcoming spaces where people of all ages and abilities can get active, stay healthy and try something new. We look forward to welcoming residents to the open days in September so they can experience the facilities for themselves.”

Everyone Active took over the running of leisure facilities in Cannock Chase on Wednesday, April 1. The Leicestershire-headquartered company is working in partnership with Cannock Chase District Council to deliver leisure services in the district for the next 10 years.
