Enderby Leisure and Golf Centre is next week set to introduce two new fitness initiatives to support pre and postnatal mums.
The centre, run by award-winning operator Everyone Active in partnership with Blaby District Council, will launch an adult and baby fitness class on Wednesday, January 14.
This is a low-impact class in which mums can get in the exercise they need, while having their babies alongside them. After classes, mums’ little ones are able to use the soft play at no extra charge.
To celebrate the launch, the first two weeks of the fitness classes will be free of charge.
In addition, Enderby Leisure and Golf Centre will host a pilot programme that supports 10 prenatal mums by offering them free swimming sessions.
Swimming is widely recognised as a safe and beneficial form of exercise during pregnancy. The buoyancy of water helps to support body weight, reducing strain on joints and alleviating swelling, while providing a gentle and effective workout.
Both sessions can be booked by the Everyone Active app and website, or in person at the leisure centre.
James Naylor, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said: “We are proud to support pre and postnatal mums from the local community and to help them be active during hugely important months in their lives.
“These new initiatives are very exciting and we are confident they will be a big success. We look forward to welcoming mums to our centre and providing the fantastic activities which allow them to improve their physical health and mental wellbeing.”
Emily Booth, Development Officer for Active Together who coordinate the Active Mums programme, said: “At Active Mums Club, we believe every woman deserves the chance to stay active and healthy through pregnancy and into motherhood. That’s why we’re thrilled to be part of this pilot, not only supporting mums-to-be with antenatal swimming but also supporting the creation of a welcoming space for new mums and their babies through the dedicated mum-and-baby fitness class.
“Swimming is a safe, low-impact way to boost physical and mental wellbeing, reduce stress and build confidence. By making these sessions accessible and affordable, we hope to break down barriers and help mums feel supported, connected and empowered, whether they’re expecting or navigating life with a little one.”
