White Oak Leisure Centre’s new £480,000 spa has officially opened to the public, giving residents access to a new range of spa and recovery facilities at the Swanley leisure centre.
The new spa opened on Saturday 12 September following the transformation of the former learner pool viewing area and first aid room, which were stripped back and redesigned to create a completely new purpose-built facility.
The spa features a traditional sauna, infra-red sauna, steam room, aroma room, feature showers and two cold plunge pools, with water temperatures reaching as low as 3 degrees Celsius.
The project has transformed an underused area of the centre, with extensive building works including new drainage, flooring and upgraded ventilation systems, alongside the installation of specialist spa equipment.
The new facilities complement White Oak’s existing gym, swimming pool and fitness facilities, giving customers more options to incorporate relaxation and recovery into their visits.
Customers can use the different heat experiences to relax and recover, while the cold plunge pools provide an additional recovery option following exercise.
The opening marks the first time White Oak has offered spa facilities since the centre opened in 2022.
Since opening, White Oak Leisure Centre has welcomed more than 2.16 million visits, with the latest investment further expanding the range of facilities available to the local community.
Hasan Romel, Area Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said: “Since opening, White Oak Leisure Centre has continued to grow as a valued facility for the local community, and we’re proud to keep investing in the centre and expanding what we can offer customers.
“The new spa gives residents another way to use White Oak, whether they want to support recovery after exercise, take some time to relax or simply try something new.
“It’s been great to see the new facility open and customers getting their first look at the space. By transforming an existing area of the centre, we’ve been able to create something completely new and add to the range of facilities available at White Oak.”
Cllr Lesley Dyball, Sevenoaks District Council’s Cabinet Member for People and Places, added: “We’re very excited that our residents can now experience these new spa facilities at White Oak Leisure Centre.
“Spas have many health and wellbeing benefits, including the opportunity to relax and recover after exercise, giving our communities even more reasons to visit this popular centre.”
The project has been funded by Everyone Active, which manages White Oak Leisure Centre in partnership with Sevenoaks District Council.
Customers can access the spa through the You+ Ultimate membership, which costs £59.99 per month and includes unlimited spa access, alongside use of the gym, swimming pool and group exercise classes at Everyone Active centres. The membership also includes access to Hot Yoga, Fortis and one Reformer class per week at participating sites, as well as a range of additional You+ benefits.
The spa is also available on a pay-as-you-go basis, with a one-hour casual pass costing £18.
