A local leisure centre is being praised for its commitment to delivering high-quality gymnastic programmes within the local community.
Winchester Sport and Leisure Park has been nominated for Official Delivery Partner Venue of the Year at the British Gymnastics Awards 2026.
The local leisure centre, managed by Everyone Active, on behalf of Winchester City Council, offers a wide range of gymnastics sessions starting from 18 months, including Child, Teen and Adult Gymnastics.
The nomination recognises the centre’s commitment to supporting gymnasts of all ages and abilities through a welcoming environment, high-quality coaching and a strong partnership with British Gymnastics.
Supported by highly-skilled coaches, the sessions help children to build confidence, resilience and important life skills alongside their gymnastics development.
Taster sessions, one-to-one support, recreational lessons and in-house competitions ensure the programme is accessible to all, within a supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels encouraged and inspired.
The programme has now grown into a vibrant development pathway that promotes wellbeing, builds skills and fosters a strong sense of community.
Alison Lewis, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said: "We’re thrilled that Winchester Sport and Leisure Park has been recognised by British Gymnastics for our dedication to gymnastics.
“Our fantastic team of coaches work to provide a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for gymnasts of all ages and abilities, and this nomination is a testament to their hard work and commitment. Our goal is to nurture potential future talent and inspire a love of gymnastics across the community.”
Winchester City Council’s Cabinet Member for Healthy Communities Cllr Kathleen Becker said: “We send our congratulations to the gymnastics coaches, and the wider team, at Winchester Sport and Leisure Park for this fantastic achievement and nomination; they offer outstanding classes to so many members of our local community and they should be extremely proud that their contribution has been recognised in this way by British Gymnastics.”
